HANDS ON TRAINING COURSE ON PSYCHOMETRIC ASSESSMENT OF CHILDREN

Period: February 2005
Total Duration: 6 hours per week, for 6 weeks
Participants: 14 participants including School counselors, rehabilitation counselors,   B.A. (Psychology) students, M.A (psychology) students
Venue: Manas Foundation

Tests covered included certain Indian standardized tools that can be used to assess children’s abilities and intellectual potential. Along with their basic merit as intelligence tests, these tests are considered extremely essential to rule out certain other disorders like dyslexia and other neuropsychological deficits. Students were thoroughly grounded via clinical practical with child clients. Clinical exposure, history taking, choosing the appropriate battery of tests, standardized tests adapted to Indian norms, Administration, scoring, interpretation of tests under supervision, passouts. Course Content covered:  Child case history taking; differential diagnosis; general testing considerations and rationale for testing; administration, scoring and interpretation of developmental schedules, rating scales, Wechsler tests, Bhatia’s battery of intelligence tests; Introduction to usage of personality and projective tests; Report Writing; Ethical considerations of testing; Pass outs.
