Mental Health Services at Boy‟s Home, Lajpat Nagar
Children's mental health warrants unique inputs with respect to medical, psychological and social aspects. We aim that youth should have good health, happier and more rewarding relationships in making, engage meaningfully in work, recreation, and friendship, all of which would enable them to manage psychological and emotional difficulties with their lives more effectively.

Manas Foundation aims to meet the above mentioned by providing Mental Health Services at the Boys' Home, Lajpat Nagar. Based on our learning and experience of working with children from custodial care at Nirmal Chhaya Complex, Tihar Jail we have set up a mental health unit in the premises of the Boys' home in partnership with Ford Foundation and Department of Women and Child Development (NCT of Delhi) .

Our services look into in house prevention, identification and treatment of mental stress/psychological disorders via counseling & psychiatric intervention, thereby promoting wellbeing. Wellbeing lies not merely in the eradication of mental disorders but towards the conscious achievement of positive feelings and happiness.

The home is for boys between the ages of 6-18 years, in need of care and protection and does not cater to children in conflict with law. The boys home has a total capacity of 200 residents, with present strength of about 170, divided equally among CH1 and CH2.

The boys home is essentially working for providing care and protection to vulnerable children with focus on restoring them to their families, all children are referred to the home by the Child Welfare Committee. The referral is made by the CWC whether the child is picked up from the street or caught in a raid or voluntarily given up by the family through a Non Government Organization.
