As a part of SCERT's training programme on "Leadership Strategic Management and School Administration" from 24th-28th Feb, 2014, Ms Monica Kumar, the managing trustee of Manas Foundation conducted an interactive workshop on "The Role of Counsellors in Schools."
The module comprised of several themes for discussion, including the need for counselling and the importance of demystifying mental health as a concept as well as a service. Common behavioural problems in children show increasing incidence due to the uncalculated effects of rapidly developing technologies. The recognition of these problems, and the addressing of mental health needs in schoolchildren is a priority that requires attention if the school environment is to become a space for young minds to flourish and thrive.
The workshops were attended by 200 principals and heads of government schools across Delhi/NCR.
